Reflective Response

To what extent have I been given the opportunity, encouraged or compelled to think about issues like peace and the philosophical approach of peace education? How has my teaching and learning been shaped or influenced by those experiences?

The ideas of peace and peace education have had a significant impact on my educational career. I am from Lebanon, a nation rich in cultural richness but tainted by past hostilities. This reflection examines how much support, pressure, or opportunity I have had to deal with these difficulties, and how my experiences have influenced my teaching and learning.

I was often exposed to discussions about conflict resolution, tolerance, and coexistence. These discussions were not merely academic; they were rooted in the lived experiences of my community.  Schools often incorporated lessons on conflict resolution, empathy, and the significance of dialogue. This exposure encouraged me to think critically about the nature of peace and the philosophical underpinnings of peace education.
